Be careful when you leave your vehicle next to your apartment house in Riga.
I hope that insurance company will pay at least for car washing for this poor Honda Accord ;)

Uzvaras bulvāris (Victory boulevard) runs from Stone Bridge till Arcadia Park. The total length is 1024 meters.
As many streets in Kliversala area, Uzvaras Bulvaris also had past related to Watercraft. The former name of boulevard is Schoonerstrasse (улица Шкунная, Schoneru iela).
The main sights are National Library, Railway Museum, Victory park and monument.

The main office building of DnB Nord Bank is already in use, although it is not absolutely ready yet.
It has the most original shape among all buildings in Riga. Personally it recalls me Grande Arche in Paris.

The protesters' camp which was pitched in front of Council of Ministers has been demolished this weekend.
The winter photo of people living on the street was starred in my blog because visitors were shocked about brave unemployed who decided to live in tent until they will find a job.
The record was reached in February when 12 tents were setup. Last weeks there were only 2 guys who still were living on Brivibas alley.
At the some point, one of them went to swim in a river, but another left camp to toilet for a couple of minutes. Almost immediately police gabbed all their unattended stuff.
Juris, the guy smocking cigarillo, told me: Police actions were illegal and this is not the end!

Dzīvnieku Tirgus (Pet market) is located in Teika area, behind Ciekurkalns market.
The pet market is open only on weekends and dealing with cats, dogs, poultry, aquarium fish and other pets.

Vakarbuļļu peldvieta (Vakarbulli Bathing site) is the only premium beach within Riga borders.
Beach has got green flag status, which signify of clean water. Also here is a secure car parking, special places for disabled people and children. It is located in one of the most remote Riga parts called Buļļi (Bulls)

In the past Salamandra club was the famous Drum and Bass and other electronic music nightclub in Riga.
Salamandra was opened in 2003 in the former industrial area. Since 2008 the club is relegated to oblivion.
Many electronic music artists like Future Prophecies, Pendulum and Raiden were guests DJs in Salamandra during these 5 years. I must admit that Salamandra also had reputation of the place for drug abused people.

Hotel Bergi is closed down since 2008, but it looks like it is still open. From a distance of course.
At some point Berģi was a popular destination for couples with a passionate desires. Despite its cheapness and remoteness here was a good restaurant with panoramic view.
It is located just next to Sigulda Highway, hence it could easily take the title of the first Riga Motel.

In Latvia nobody does sort waste, hence public dumps look terrible and have a dreadful stench kilometers around.

Brīvības bulvāris (Freedom boulevard) is part of the most important and busiest street in Riga - Brīvības.
All parts of Brivibas iela, from the center outwards city: Kalku iela, Brivibas iela, Brivibas bulvaris, Brivibas gatve.

This morning I was quite surprised to see so many people next to Nightclub Godvil.
In fact it was one of the final rehearsals before New Wave song contest.

Heavy shower flooded Riga today; the storm torn branches off the trees, so many streets, roads became blocked.
Thankfully it was very short rain, hence the traffic was limited just for some hours.
The picture was taken this Sunday afternoon on the exit from Riga Airport.

A real night out must be from Dusk till Dawn, especially in summer Riga, because the sunrise is always very early.
Photo has been taken at beginning Kr Barona iela, next to Kapsula club.

T.G.I. Friday's is always called just Fridays, but most of the local people don't even know that it stands for Thank God It's Friday's, just because they simply don't go to this American restaurant.
Everyday regular visitors of Fridays are Riga tourists, who pretend that they don't like McDonald's and don't know about Hesburger, which is located 1 minute walking from here.

Mūkusala iela 46 - is the address of Trodeks main office. It is located between Railway bridge and Islands' bridge.
An advanced mobile phone repair shop is also located here, which looks more like kinda laboratory from inside.

Three lakes located in Saurieši are former quarry pits, which were used for the extraction of clay.
A Knauf factory, the the biggest consumer of extract, is also located next to this former clay pit.
In summer Sauriešu karjers (Saurieši Querry) is a famous resort because of very clean water. It is also favourite place of Latvian Scuba divers.

These days are burning hot in Riga. The LMT Office's thermometer is showing +35°C (95°F)
It is more fun, when you look at the winter picture taken 5 months Ago in January, when it -21°C.

2,5 years ago Riga Daily Photo was started with the picture of Vana Tallinn ferry departing from Riga Harbour. 500th post was marked with photo of another ferry - Regina Baltica.
I didn't want to break the tradition, so the second anniversary was with photo of Festival taking the Sea.
Now it's time to expose Rīgas pasažieru osta (Riga Passenger Terminal) itself and the reason is that this picture is the 1000th photo!
Just imagine, 1000 photos of Riga! Riga Daily Photo is my longest hobby ever, which is still making me happy.
Although difficult times came and I don't have a good camera anymore, hence I have to take pictures with low-end old digital camera. So if you like this blog, please support it by making a small donation for a new camera.
Details are on the top right corner of the blog. Chip in!
Thanks anyway, my beloved visitors and readers :)

I didn't expect that so many Spanish people are living in Riga.
Nearly all of them were in Old town to support their national team against The Netherlands and then to celebrate the victory in the Football World championship.

Bivouac (Bivak) is the name of the event devoted to historical reconstructed battles, which was being held in Daugavgriva fortress this weekend.
A lot of soldiers wearing historical uniform of Swedish, Russian, French, German and other armies of 18-20 centuries inspire the feeling of being moved back for many years by time machine.
